This oceanic artifact is a very large and old Polynesian hooked sword club from Samoa. The club was made out of a dense light colored hardwood and it was decorated with rows of diamond and triangular incisions, each filled with lime. Most of the lime is still present. This club is in marvelous condition. There are no cracks or major damage. The end of the hook section has several shallow dimpled impact marks. This club was acquired from Lance Ambrose, an antiquity dealer from Cleveland, in 1987. It was part of a large private collection for more than 40 years before I acquired it. It was marked as an artifact made in the 19th Century.
