Item BR155
This small, but beautiful lithic reproduction of a corner
notched lithic point with elegant parallel flaking was made
by Virgil
Tonn, a rancher from Georgetown, just north of
Austin, Texas. The material is Agate from eastern Brazil.
Virgil achieves the beautiful flake patterns by grinding
down a blank to a perfect configuration and then he flakes
it. This grinding technique was perfected by the ancient
Egyptians, but not by Native Americans. Virgil positioned
the yellow band in the material to a position where it would
have the maximum visual effect. Length = 48 mm ; Weight =
2.6 gm
