Item BR175

Pricing Information for this item can be found on the Lithics Artifact Reproductions link. Instructions for ordering can be found on the How to Order web page.

This beautiful lithic reproduction of a spear point with elegant parallel flaking was made by Virgil Tonn, a rancher from Georgetown, just north of Austin, Texas. Virgil achieves the beautiful flake patterns by grinding down a blank to a perfect configuration and then he flakes it. This grinding technique was perfected by the ancient Egyptians, but not by Native Americans. The edges on both sides have a very delicate and sharp serratied configuration, so this could also be used as a lithic knife. Length = 92 mm ; Weight = 8.3 gm
