This Zulu throwing spear Assengai is in its earliest form [18th Century or earlier]. On a slendar dark wood haft with rich patina. Butt has forged iron conical terminus. Forged iron head with incised grooving on both sides. The shaft has a uniform curve or bow along its length. Originally purchased from the Fagan Arms catalog. Because of the overall length, it would be difficult to ship this spear overseas. Length = 180 cm ; Weight = 190 gm

This artifact is from the estate of Dain Torguson. The family will use the proceeds from the sale of this artifact to display a sculpture crafted by Dain in a public library in Rapid City, North Dakota.
