This traditional boomerang was made by Lin Onus in the 1970s. Lin Onus is the son of famous Aboriginal artist and activist, Bill Onus ( died December 1968 ). Lin became famous as an artist in the 1970s and some of his Aboriginal art canvas paintings sold for $30,000+ in fine art auction houses after Lin Onus' death in 1996. Lin made special art boomerangs like this one using a technique where he painted the boomerang ochre red, let the paint dry, then painted the upper surface with a second coat of paint ( black or brown ) and while the paint was still wet, he would use a stick or a comb to etch in the art. This art boomerang depicts a kangaroo and an emu with floral art on the tips. The airfoils are fairly neutral, but the underside has been beveled to made this a right handed returner. It is in excellent condition with only a minor paint disturbance on the underside as shown in the photo below.
