This item is a ceramic panpipe or pan flute from the pre-Columbian Chancay culture of Northern Peru. The hollow pipe chambers are molded into the body of the pan pipe to yield 8 notes. It appears that the panpipe may have a coating of varnish or maybe just a glazed outer surface? Both ends of the panpipe have damage (see the photo below), but the panpipe still works really well.
