This item is a sling used to throw a projectile such as a stone. Herders throughout the world used this device to protect their flocks. This sling was made in the 1990s. It was collected by Ben Ruhe, a well known world traveler who previously worked at the Smithsonian Institution, in a Llasan Bazaar in 1997. The pouch is solid and diamond shaped. It is made out of bicolored wool which has a faint musk odor of the Yak. This sling has an aditional red dyed wool running through the center of the pouch. This sling is in excellent condition. It has light wear and it includes a multi-finger or hand loop at one end and a tuft of raw wool at the other end to quiet the sound of the release. A very nice contemporary artifact.

Length = 200 cm ; Weight = 98 gm
