Item BR134
Barnaby Ruhe is one of America's most beloved boomerang
throwers and a strong competitor. Barnaby is a graduate of
the Naval Academy (Oliver North's classmate) so he is
naturally gifted in competition strategy. Barnaby was
involved in the earliest days of American competition and he
has a good pedigree with Uncle Ben Ruhe and cousins Peter
and Larry Ruhf as family members. Barnaby is still involved
in competition. He was on the International Team that
competed in Japan in 2006, a full 25 years after his first
international competition when he was on the American Team
for the 1981 USA-Australia Challenge Match. This juggling set was made specially for Ben Ruhe ( a
seventh son!) in 1989. Both boomerangs are painted white
with flourescent orange tips and dated 1989. One has " I'm
The One " and the other has " The Seventh Son " to show that
they are a matched set. One has a piece of red tape. The
other has a piece of blue tape. This is to aid in counting
as consecutive catches are made. The range on these are a
bit more than 20 metres, so if you plan to juggle these in
calm conditions, you might want to carefully tune them by
adding positive angle of attack to all four blade tips to
make the flight more circular and to shorten the range. This
Juggling set is in very good condition and is a valuable
artifact from an event that is no longer contested in
tournaments.
