Michael Girvin (aka Gel) has been making and throwing boomerangs since the 1970s. In the 1980s, Gel founded a cult subculture within the boomerang community called Team Gel. Gel sponsored tournaments where ever he lived in California and Washington states and promoted boomerang throwing more than perhaps any other thrower in America through his efforts. His tournaments were a lot more fun than comps with the sterile USBA rated events. Gel also competed internationally on many USA boomerang teams. Team Gel still thrives and events are held on the West Coast on a regular basis.

This omega boomerang was made out of 12 ply 6 mm Aircraft Grade plywood in 1990. It is called the "New Madonna" and is dated 5-24-90. It is half of a Doubling set that was used by Larry Ruhf in competition. Painted in typical Gel colors. This one has some wear from lots of use, especially on the tips of both blades. I gave this one several test throws and found it to be a good flyer with a 30+ metre range. As is common with other early Gel booms, this one takes a hard throw and gives you a nice circular flight.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 38 cm ; Weight = 96 gm
