Michael Girvin (aka Gel) has been making and throwing boomerangs since the 1970s. In the 1980s, Gel founded a cult subculture within the boomerang community called Team Gel. Gel sponsored tournaments where ever he lived in California and Washington states and promoted boomerang throwing more than perhaps any other thrower in America through his efforts. His tournaments were a lot more fun than comps with the sterile USBA rated events. Gel also competed internationally on many USA boomerang teams. Team Gel still thrives and events are held on the West Coast on a regular basis.

This early Gel omega boomerang was made out of Birch plywood. The Sunshine is Gel's most popular model and this is one of the earliest ones that you will find anywhere (dated 3-26-88). Painted in typical Gel colors. This one has some wear from use, but it is still in marvellous condition.
