Item LR18
Steve Miller, a doctor from Seattle, Washington, was a
member of the USA Team that competed in the first
Australia/USA Challenge Match in 1981. Steve made very few
boomerangs and he never made boomerangs for sale to others.
Steve's boomerangs are exceedingly rare. They flew well and
he laminated thin veneers together to make his own plywood,
much in the same way as the Janetzki Brothers made their
boomerangs. Because of Steve's untimely death in 1985, only
a few of his boomerangs exist and these are in the throw
kits of his team mates from the early 1980s. This Steve Miller boomerang was made just before the
first USA/Australia Challenge Match in 1981. Many throwers,
including Steve, made plywood copies of the famous Gerhards
hook. This boomerang is made out of laminated veneers (home
made plywood). Steve and Larry Ruhf threw this hook on Huon
Island in Australia after the completion of the Challenge
Match.
