This beautiful natural elbow throwstick was made out of Hornbean, a very hard wood that grows in Michigan. I used to jog near this small tree in the woods near my home in Ann Arbor. I noticed the perfect curvature of this Hornbean as the trunk came out of the ground at an angle at the top of a hill. Bob Foresi visited with me in 1994 and he helped me harvest the trunk. Several natural elbow throwstick blanks were cut from the trunk and this is the first one made. The underside has " R.A.F. ; 1995 ; Am. H;bean #1 " etched into the surface. This hunting boomerang has a waxed finish over a very smooth surface. A good flyer with a 60-80 metre flight in calm conditions. It works either right or left handed, but it seems to work better right handed. The feel and handling is similar to the best throwsticks made by Australian Aborigines.

Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 52 cm ; Weight = 138 gm

Bob Foresi is a Land Surveyor from Massachusetts who is currently serving as the editor of the USBA newsletter - Many Happy Returns. Bob has been making and throwing boomerangs and hunting sticks for more than 30 years. His strip laminated throwsticks were superb for using in throwstick competitions and they are like Gerhards hooks in feel and construction. Bob occasionally makes natural elbow and plywood sport boomerangs.
