In the early 1980s, Ted Bailey made a very limited number
of lap joint boomerangs out of fine hardwood boards. These
lap joints had angles of 60, 75 or 90 degrees. Instead of
lapping two 1/4" boards together, two pairs of offset 1/8"
boards were lapped together to create a strong and function
hardwood blank. The airfoils were then carefully carved and
sanded and protected with a coat of oil or satin
polyurethane finish. This particular lap joint was made in early 1984 out of
Purple Heart boards with a 75 degree angle between the
blades. It was originally sold at the Aussie/USA Challenge
Match in Delaware, Ohio. The owner is thinning out his
collection and has decided to offer this one for sale.
