Volker Behrens is a well known commercial manufacturer of
sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also
a competitor and member of the German International
Boomerang Team as well as a pioneer in the development of
long distance boomerangs with demonstrated throws of nearly
150 metres in the 1980s. Volker continues to make high
performance boomerang products. This includes boomerangs
made out of Aircraft Grade plywood, Paxolin, G12, Carbon
Fibre, Lap Joint Hardwoods and Strip Laminated
Hardwoods. This boomerang is a medium large strip laminated weighted
hook, similar in design to Volker's famous Paxolin "
Challenger III ", including the edge finger notches on the
trailing edge of the dingle arm. This boomerang is laminated
using thick Oak strips, similar to the construction method
used by Al Gerhards. The dingle arm has a half lead weight
added to the tip and the lift arm has 2 lead weights for the
purpose of extending the flight range. The boomerang is
signed on the underside, but it is not dated. It was made in
the late 1980s. This boomerang is in mint condition, but it
does have a small chip on the dingle arm trailing edge at
the finger notch location. This does not affect the strength
or performance for this fine example.
