- The Champion Cross Stick is an antique toy from
the 1940s that was made out of Balsa wood. The blades
are held together with a small metal rivet at the hub.
One blade set is decorated with red airplane markings.
The other blade set is decorated with blue airplane
markings. There is some moisture loss from the balsa
wood, resulting in a small reduction in blade
thickness. This has left the rivet slightly loose. You
can either tap lightly on the rivet with a hammer to
tighten the rivet or use a small amount of tape to
hold the interface rigid after the blades are expanded
to form a cross. These are in new condition, but there
is minor splintering of the wood on some of the blades
at the trailing edge. This is not damage. This is how
they were made. The boxes are also very rigid and most
have cracks, ends missing, etc., but they are still
collectable. These take a very light toss and have a
very slow rotation with a range of only 5-6 metres.
They are a little more challenging to throw than the
foam tribladers shown above. Limited supply.
