Since graduation, I went off to college on Cape Cod, met a beautiful woman (Kate) who is still (bless her tolerance) my W(L)ife,1971. We have two single children, boy & girl, born 12 years apart, Seth & Lindsey. They love each other, we love them. But ain't it nice when they leave?

I have been a Hack_of_all_trades. I'm still master of none. But so far, all the houses I built (including my own) have stood. I vehemently opposed the Vietnam War & contemplated Canada. I think registering for the draft in Cristobal actually kept me from being drafted. I went to Woodstock. I remember most of it, including the Jefferson Airplane on Sunday morning & Jimmy Hendrix on Monday, when you were able to get close enough to the stage, but he was so loud I had to fall back to the outside edge.

I continued in mostly self employment until the bust of the early 80's where I found myself going fast in a non_direction & looked to the military one more time. After picking up the jaws of all my friends, I went to active duty at 32 years of age. I got my long hair cut, did the Active part, & went to the Reserves. We never let go of our home in MA, so we always had a place to fall back on. That, & primarily, Kate, were the best decisions of my life. Leaving active duty, I started my own landscaping business & continued to stay in the Reserves. It was a very equitable relationship. I started to do quite well, but was still a one man dog & pony show when 9/11 happened. My unit, which is directly attached to the Defense Intelligence Agency in DC, got almost immediately activated since we did counter_terrorist support for the agency. Hence, I became an active duty soldier once more, & I lost my business. So 9/11 had an immediate effect on me. I met a lot more people in the ensuing weeks who were equally affected.

Strangely enough, I consider myself very blessed in where I am & what I'm doing. I'm not overseas, for one. I get to see my family once in awhile for next. I've also gotten a pretty good paycheck. Don't know what I'll do in November, when I get released, but that's been the story of my life, so I'm not too worried. I guess it's good to be 50 something & not too worried. I've never really felt bad. Don't wanna go there, don't wanna be that.
