This license plate is from the Panama Canal Zone. It is number 8727 for the year 1950. This plate is in good - very good condition. There is light oxidation in some areas and a few scratches as expected, but most of the original paint is fully intact and it is flat.

This is one of my best Canal Zone plates because it is my birth year and most of the plates from 1950 have a lot of oxidation problems. Many have been repainted. I think that the problem was that the color of the paint was red and iron oxide was used to add color to the paint. There was probably some kind of chemical reaction between the base metal and the paint that damaged the surfaces of plates from this year. I purchased more than 10 plates from 1950 to finally get one with decent paint.

This plate would look great on your vehicle or mounted on the wall. I made no attempt to clean this plate. A rare plate from this former USA possession.
