Boomerang Auction Bidder Information
I must receive your BOOMERANG AUCTION BID SHEET by midnight on 1 November 2008. The earliest bid (based on email or postmark date) breaks all ties. I will mail out summaries of current winning bids up to, but not including the final bid date of 1 November 2008. You are expected to purchase the auction items that you win and to make payment within two weeks after receiving your invoice or the boomerangs you won will be offered to the other auction participants. Please use conditional bidding to make choices and to set spending limits.
How To Bid on Auction Items

If you plan to bid on only a few auction items, please make up a small list of item numbers, bids, and conditions and email your list to: Ted Bailey. I would prefer that your bids be part of the body of the email, rather than in an attached MS Word document. If you plan on submitting lots of bids, it is OK to attached a document with your bid sheet or you can print out and mail a copy of the INTERNET BOOMERANG AUCTION BID SHEET by postal mail to the address at the bottom of this web page.

You may make up to three bids per boomerang. Your lowest bid that exceeds any other bidder's highest bid wins. All bids must be to the nearest whole dollar.

Example: There are four bidders for boomerang #39. The low, middle and high bids for each are:

Bidder #1: $5 $11 $15
Bidder #2: $10 $16 $22
Bidder #3: $2 $5 $8
Bidder #4: $3 $8 $12

The middle bid for bidder #2 is $16. This is more than bidder #1's highest bid of $15. Therefore, bidder #2 wins with his middle bid of $16. This method of bidding provides each bidder with an opportunity to obtain the boomerangs he/she wants without overbidding on anything.

You may also bid conditionally, such as: "only one of either item XX or YY" or you can set a dollar limit for all of your bids and specify an order or priority. I will let you know if your conditions are too complicated for me to follow. In addition, you will have an extra safeguard such that your winning bid cannot exceed the next highest bid by more than 10%. Therefore, if you bid $200 on a really nice boomerang and the next highest bid is $100, then you win the bid, but you only owe $110.

During the bidding period (1 September -> 1 November), I will email periodic (weekly?) bid updates to current high bidders. The last email update will be on 31 October 2008. The last day of bidding (1 November 2008) will be silent. I will get up early on the morning of 2 November and retrieve all final bids from my email. You may adjust your bids as often as you like until bidding is complete.

Bid what you are willing to pay for an item. The most successful bidders use conditional bidding. Conditional bidding allows a bidder to win one or two items from a group of several boomerangs, then their remaining bids drop out for others to win. You can also set a total spending limit and list an order of preference for the boomerangs that you wish to win. This allow you to bid on a large number of boomerangs without worrying that you will win too much. You may not change your conditions or bid limits after the bidding has ended. You may not set a condition that you will choose among the boomerangs that you won after the auction has ended. If you use a condition that you want X number of boomerangs from a select group and you do not specify the specific order, then the choice of which items you win will be that of the auction management.

If you see a boomerang with a bid that exceeds the price that you are willing to pay, you can still place a bid on it and have a chance at winning that item. In each auction, there are a lot of conditional bids that drop out at the end of the auction. Sometimes several bids drop out and a lucky bidder wins a great boomerang at a bargain basement price.

Some of the auction numbers may have multiple identical items. At the end of the auction, the winning bidder has the option to purchase as many of the items as he wishes, each at the winning bid price. If the winner does not choose all of the items then the second place bidder wins the next entry at his/her winning bid price and so on until all items have been sold.

All bidding must be in USA currency in whole dollar units (no cents). If you do not live in the USA, then payment must be in USA currency and payment must be by international postal money order negotiable in a USA bank or a certified check drafted on a USA bank. I will try to arrange for you to make payment to someone in your own country to save you both time and money. Personal checks from Canada (in USD) will require a $1 surcharge. If you have any questions about how to make payment, contact: Ted Bailey or visit:

You will be expected to pay the actual shipping charges for all boomerangs that you win. The flat $5 shipping charge for catalog sales to a USA address is not valid for auction sales. If you want guaranteed shipping, I recommend that you pay for postal insurance if sent to a USA address or package registration if sent to an overseas address. Payment must be recieved before shipping. Please plan on shipping costs when you bid, especially from an overseas address.
