Doug DuFresne was one of America's best known boomerang makers. He manufactured a line of the highest quality plywood and strip laminated boomerangs. Most of the strip laminations were of Cherry or Ash. Everything that he made was a great flyer. Doug stopped producing boomerangs in the late 1990s and the price of his boomerangs increased dramatically. Doug was also one of America's top throwers and a member of the American boomerang team during the formation of the American organization. Doug was active in the formulation of USBA ompetition rules in the mid 1980s.

This extra light weight strip laminated U is an early prototype and one of Doug DuFresne's first strip laminated boomerang products. This design preceeded the famous FC II that looks the same except for having a thick elbow section. It is with this early design that I first broke the 20 second Fast Catch barrier. Made out of Ash strips and with a plastic band on the elbow to reduce delaminating tensile stresses in the elbow. It is a very fast boomerang, but the flight range is closer to 15 metres, so it needs a coin added to the left arm to extend the range if you plan to use it in competition. It works best in light winds. It is in very good condition. No edge chips, but there is a shallow ding on the upper surface near the elbow, some paint scratches and a possible delamination repair near one of the tips. This boomerang should be plenty strong enough for throwing and it would be an excellent boomerang for anyone who requires very low power for a complete return because of its light weight and short range. A good collectable.
