This item was part of an collection of old Plains Indian artifacts sold by the Butterfields Auction House in 2001. Butterfield's ethnographic expert identified this as a Plains Indian "stone club head with three naturally occurring crystal projections". The crystals help make the stone head more effective. A groove is carved into the club head around the full circumference for wrapping the head for attaching the head to the club's shafting (not available). A small drilled hole intersects the circumferential groove. This is visible in the photo below. This club head is very unique and in excellent condition. Span = 11 cm. Weight = 538 gm
