This Woomera spear thrower was made by Aborigines in the tropical north of Australia in the first half of the 20th Century. This example is strong, attractive and complete with a wooden peg attachment. The body is a long and narrow with a lens shaped cross section having an aspect ratio (width to thickness) of about 4/1. The finish is smooth except at the peg attachment. The body is a natural red brown wood color with white, red & yellow bands painted near the barb and handle. Length = 78 cm. Weight = 270 gm.
