This message board or Sacred Tjuringa is from the western side of the Central Desert of Australia. It was made with a combination of metal and stone tools. One side is plain and rounded like half of a lens. The other side is flat and covered with incised line decorations (see photo below). I purchased this artifact from an antiquity dealer from Cleveland in 1988. The dealer said it was made in the 19th Century, but it could also be from the early 20th Century. It was made out of a dense hardwood, probably Mulga and it is in very nice condition.

Length = 53 cm ; Width = 8 cm ; Weight = 320 gm
