This large hunting boomerang or non-returning throwstick was made out of a beautiful piece of red mulga with regions of blonde heartwood at the tips. The surfaces are smooth and the airfoiling is lenticular as you would expect on a non-returning boomerang. Both surfaces have attractive hot poker art. There is no damage and this piece would make a wonderful display. It may be strong enough to throw, but I would recommend hanging it on the wall instead. This boomerang was probably made in the the 1960s or 1970s and it has nicer workmanship than most of the contemporary Aboriginal crafts. Length = 66 cm ; Weight = 434 gm
