This strip laminated hook looks like a lefty, but it is right handed with a tip curl on the dingle arm instead of on the lift arm. I did not count the number of strips used to construct this boomerang, but there must be at least 100 and the hardwoods used are exotic species like Ebony and Mahogany. Volker signed and dated this boomerang 1986. It is in very nice condition, but the dingle arm tip has a rough edge, but no dings or cracks. There is also a small ding in the upper surface of the elbow that could be a veneer flaw? I have not thrown this boomerang, but I have an identical one in my private collection and it is a very good flyer. The flight range varies between 35 and 50 metres depending on how you twist the blades to add or remove angle of attack. This boomerang is from the personal collection of Al Gerhards. Volker only made 4 of these and this one is #2.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 37 cm ; Weight = 72 gm

Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith.
