Bob Burwell is one of Australia's best known boomerang throwers, manufacturers and a top rated world competitor. Bob is the son of Ces Burwell, who was also a well known boomerang maker and thrower in the 1940s - 1970s. Find out more about the Burwell family on Bob's web site: Historical Photographs of the Burwell Family.

This early hook was made out of Marine plywood for use in competition. The range is expected to be 40-50 metres. This hook was acquired by Brother Brian Thomas who then had Arthur Janetzki paint it with his Aboriginal style art. This boomerang was probably made and painted in the late 1970s or early 1980s. It was part of Brian Thomas' collection and then sold as part of his estate to raise money for Brian's designated charities. It has light wear and a few scratches from use, but it is still in very good to excellent condition and without dings or pits. A fine boomerang with an excellent pedigree.
