This large traditional boomerang was made out of a beautiful Red Gum natural elbow in 1983. Red Gum is a rare and valuable native hardwood that grows along the Murray River in Queensland and New South Wales. The boomerang was then decorated with hot poker Aussie animal and artifact art by Rob Croll. This elbow is one of the most valuable boomerangs in my collection. It is no longer legal to harvest Red Gum and the workmanship by both Jack Byham and Rob Croll is the best work they have ever done. The elbow is nearly flawless and without cracks or scratches, but there are several small natural knots. I acquired this elbow from Rob Croll at the 1984 USA/Aussie Challenge Match in 1984. It was very expensive. This is a true returner and one of the nicest boomerangs that can be added to a collection.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Span = 56 cm ; Weight = 160 gm

Jack Byham was one of Australia's best known boomerang manufacturers. He was a real 'Crocodile Dundee' who spent a lot of time with the Aborigines. Jack made boomerangs and throwsticks using traditional Aboriginal methods and many of his products are mistaken as genuine Aboriginal artifacts. Jack is most famous for his commercial boomerang products that spanned a half century from the Olympic Games in Melbourne (1956) through the 1990s. Jack made exceptional throwsticks and natural elbow boomerangs and these are in high demand by Australian collectors. Jack was a past president of the Boomerang Association of Australia and the founder of Binghi Boomerangs.

Rob Croll is one of Australia's most famous boomerang competitors. Rob has been a member of many winning teams and he has been the World Champion many times. Rob makes custom boomerangs and decorates them with hot poker art. He is a collector of Aboriginal boomerangs and he owns a small museum in Australia where his collection is displayed.
