This unusual design is one of the first boomerangs that I obtained in a trade with Rob Croll. I sent Rob one of my first lap joint boomerangs and asked if he had anything that would be good for use in windy conditions. When I first received this boomerang, I was somewhat disappointed. It was ugly and and without art, but when I tried it in windy conditions, I was more than pleased. This boomerang has a flight range exceeding 20 metres and it is catchable when throwing in high wind. A couple of years later, I went to a tournament in Cleveland, Ohio and it was very windy and cold. I used only this boomerang for all events and I won the tournament. I was one of the only competitors who could catch a boomerang in Fast Catch, Consecutive Catch, etc. I kept this boomerang in my personal throw kit and used it for years when conditions were awful. It was made in 1983 out of 5 mm Aussie plywood. Rob tuned it by adding lead tape to both the upper and lower surfaces of the elbow. Very clever design. I understand why Rob always did well when competing in International tournaments. Very rare. The only one I have ever seen. Very nice condition, but not a pretty boomerang.
