This pair of Mini doublers was made out of 2.7 mm Birch plywood and painted with bright colors on the elbows and tips. This pair was made by Rob Croll for his personal use. It is not a commercial product. I acquired this set in 1989 when Rob Croll and Roger Perry visited me in 1989 prior to the International Team Cup that was held in Gaithersburg. The three of us made a trip to the Bruce Peninsula in Canada o practice for the tournament. I didn't have a good set of doublers, so Rob traded this set for one of my Midi MTAs. I kept and used this set in my own throw kit until I retired from competition a few years later. I recommend that the buyer made replicas of this set and also scale it larger for use in different wind conditions. Both boomerangs are also very nice flyers for the Accuracy event or for sport throwing.
Rob Croll is one of Australia's most famous boomerang competitors. Rob has been a member of many winning teams. He has also been the World Champion many times. Rob makes custom boomerangs and decorates them with hot poker art. He also makes his own competition equipment. He is a collector of Aboriginal artifacts. Rob also owns a small museum in Australia where his collection is displayed. |
