Jack Byham was one of Australia's most well known boomerang manufacturers. He was a real 'Crocodile Dundee' who spent a lot of time with the Aborigines. Jack made boomerangs and throwsticks using traditional Aboriginal methods and many of his products are mistaken for Aboriginal artifacts. Jack is most famous for his commercial boomerang products that spanned a half century from the Olympic Games in Perth (1956) through the 1990s. Jack made exceptional throwsticks and natural elbow boomerangs that are in high demand by Australian collectors.

This large boomerang was made out of a beautiful Murray River Red Gum natural elbow. It is symmetrical and almost flawless. The upper surface was painted by Jack Byham with Aboriginal art, similar to that of what the Janetzki Brothers did on their boomerangs. The underside is not painted, but the words "Murray River Red Gum" is burned lightly into the surface near the elbow. This is a very fine and rare example of Jack Byham's work. I have only seen two or three others made by him of this material and this one is the finest. I do not know if this is a returner or a throwstick., but it is most likely to be a returner.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 74 cm ; Weight = 314 gm
