The large Paxolin Challenger III was Volker''s most popular model for long distance throwing and this Challenger III was part of Volker's personal throw kit. This boomerang is dated April 1989 and it has Volker's sticker with a West German label, so this is an old one and it predates the smaller Challenger G12 models. Painted red and white on both sides. Wear and scratches on both sides and one shallow compression ding on the lift arm tip that is difficult to see, but no major damage. Volker would selectively add weights for different weather conditions, but it is currently unweighted. This Challenger III is a great collectible, but it should only be thrown by a seasoned long distance competitor.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 40 cm ; Weight = 98 gm

Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith.
