The large Paxolin Challenger III was Volker''s most popular model for long distance throwing and this Challenger III was the second Challenger III that Volker ever made (1986). This exact boomerang was Volker's personal favorite and it is the boomerang that Volker is holding on the cover of Many Happy Returns issue number 29 (Winter 1987). Volker had two documented flights of more than 145 metres with Wilhelm Bretfeld doing the measurements. This boomerang is signed and dated 1986. It is also marked as " #2 made" and "134 metres". This boomerang is battle hardened and with wear, but no damage. The edges of the tips have been filed and there are two large weights taped to the underside for tuning. It is obvious that this was Volker's favorite Paxolin Challenger III and he kept it until his death. This Challenger III is a valuable collectible and it should only be thrown by a seasoned long distance competitor.

Specifications: Right Handed ; Tip-to-tip Span = 40 cm ; Weight = 142 gm

Volker Behrens was a well known commercial manufacturer of sporting and competition boomerang products. Volker was also a competitor and a member of the German International Boomerang Team. Volker was a pioneer in the development of long distance boomerangs and he demonstrated throws of 150 metres in the 1980s with his popular Challenger III Paxolin Hook. Volker made the last of his boomerang products in 2011 and he died in June, 2012. His boomerangs have become great collectibles because they are considered to be comparable to boomerangs made by Herb Smith.
